Welcome to the third installment of our specially curated cocktail recipes for those who live and breathe design. After all, if you’re that invested, you might as well drink it in, too.
Our in-house mixologist, Tim Littlefield, has been feeding us the concepts for these colorful concoctions for the last three weeks now, and we’ve spruced them up with some extra design flavor and a healthy dose of animated gifs. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do — in moderation, of course.
Pica Colada
2 oz 5 Banks Rum
2 oz unsweetened pineapple juice
Juice of half a lime
1 oz Coco Lopez
Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds and strain into ice-filled glass. With drinks this sweet, it’s easy to underestimate how much alcohol you’ve added. As with the perfect lettering in your designs, precise measurement is key. It’s okay to admit to perfectionism. We’re all a little OCD.
Comic Sangria
1 lemon, sliced into rounds
1 orange, sliced into rounds
2 fresh peaches, pitted and sliced thinly
3/4 cup brandy
½ cup sugar
1 bottle of cava
2 teaspoons Fee Brother’s Peach Bitters
Add sliced citrus and peach to pitcher with brandy and sugar. Stir to dissolve sugar and leave to sit for at least an hour, allowing the flavor of the fruit to combine with the brandy. Add most of the cava to the pitcher. (Careful, the sugar will make the cava fizz up to the rim.) Use the remainder to top off each serving. Pour into glasses over ice. As much as designers mock Comic Sans, the font still remains ubiquitous. You’ll find Sangria everywhere too, but at least it leaves a better taste in your mouth.

1 bottle of light beer
¼ cup tangerine juice
Lemon wedge
Combine light beer and tangerine juice in pint glass. Garnish with lemon wedge. Let this one serve as a reminder that sometimes combining together two elements you wouldn’t normally think of mixing together in your work can lead to delightful, unexpected, and refreshing results.
